Transcribe.cpp converts your spoken words into written text. It uses advanced technology to process audio files quickly right on your computer. You do not need an internet connection to transcribe your files once the software runs. It supports dozens of different speech models, which ensures accurate results for many languages and accents.
Follow these steps to set up the software on your Windows computer.
This software performs best on modern Windows computers. Ensure you have at least 8GB of RAM. The software works well with standard Intel or AMD processors. If you have a dedicated graphics card from NVIDIA, the software will convert your audio files faster.
When you open the application, a black window appears. This is the command interface. You see instructions on how to select your audio file. Move your audio file into the same folder as the application for the easiest experience. Type the name of the file exactly as it appears when the program prompts you. The program creates a new text file in the same folder once it finishes processing.
The program supports common file formats like MP3 and WAV. If you have a long audio file, the software requires a few minutes to process the speech. Keep the window open until you see a success message. You can find your transcript in the output folder. Open the file with Notepad or any other word processor to view your text.
If the program closes immediately after you click it, check that you extracted the files from the folder first. Running the file inside the zip container causes errors. If the software says it cannot find a file, ensure your audio file name has no special characters. Keep names simple like audio.wav to avoid confusion.
Your data stays on your computer. This software does not send your voice recordings to a server in the cloud. You keep full control over your audio and the resulting text files at all times.
